Origins of
Rebellion
A barbershop built on craft, community, and the Island we call home.
Long before Rebellion, this corner barbershop was home to Figaro Barbershop — run by Mario, a pillar of the neighbourhood for over 30 years. Regulars remember the jade plant that bloomed in the window every year, the warm welcome, and the old-school craft he kept alive.
Mario retired in 2000 after decades behind the chair, and the doors stayed quiet for years.
When Michael took over the space, he made it a priority to honour the history that came before. Today, Mario still stops by the shop once in a while.
Rebuilding a
CLASSIC
Rebellion began with a simple idea: a barbershop that puts people first. No pretentious energy. No gatekeeping. No booking anxiety. Just good cuts, good people, and a space that feels like home — even on your first visit.
When owner Michael Bodie took over the historic Pandora Street barbershop, originally built in 1957, he saw the opportunity to breathe new life into a space with deep roots in the community. What followed was a careful restoration — preserving the character and history of the shop while rebuilding it for a new era of barbershop culture in Victoria.
Rebellion is shaped by clean craft, genuine appreciation for community, and a respect for the city’s history.
Lookin’ to get a cut from the boss?
You can catch Michael at both the Pandora and Keatings locations. As the founder of Rebellion, Michael sets the standard for every cut that comes out of the shop. He’s meticulous by nature, deeply hands-on, and known for his precision — the kind that comes from years of refining the craft, not rushing it.
Michael does it all, and he does it properly. Every detail matters, from the consultation to the final result. If you’re looking for a cut that’s clean, intentional, and built to last, you’re in the right chair.
Rebellion is rooted in Vancouver Island — inspired by the people who live here, the culture that shapes us, and the everyday community that walks through the door. It’s inclusive, welcoming, and built for everyone. Whether you’re a regular, new to the neighbourhood, or just passing through, you’re part of the story the second you sit down.
Rebellion is bigger than a name — it’s a mindset.
Every barber here brings their own style, perspective, and craft to the chair. No cookie-cutter cuts. No salon stiffness. Just real people who know what looks good, keep their finger on the pulse, and genuinely care about helping you feel like you.
